Portrait: chris s. howardFor me, photography has gone from something I did for fun and relaxation to something I want to make a career out of. People are my favorite subject, I started the Faces of Canton project as a challenge to myself as I have always been shy, particularly around strangers. This project has opened doors for me I never thought realistic; I now am more comfortable around people than ever before and have learned much from the experience in terms of portrait photography and about myself in general.Let's face it, if you can walk up to a total stranger and ask them for an impromptu portrait, especially if it is a complex one as many have been, then there really is nothing that can sway you. The Faces of Canton project has taught me a great deal about thinking on your feet and using your environment in ways most people never even consider. I have heard a lot of people say, "I'm not very photogenic," well to me everyone is photogenic in their own unique way. It is the job of a photographer to bring out one's beauty be it external or internal and I take that job very seriously. So, I hope you enjoy viewing my work, if so perhaps we can work together sometime, take care, Chris.
